The 2013 growing season was warm and consistent throughout, perfect for the vines to ripen. Harvest started early in mid-August and extended into early November as fall brought cooler temperatures. The long, warm 2013 growing season resulted in beautifully ripe and balanced wines.

The second consecutively warm vintage in a row for Washington, 2014 had record-breaking heat in many parts of the Columbia Valley AVA. These increased temperatures led to an early harvest by about two weeks across the valley. We are particularly excited about our reds for this vintage, as we've seen soft tannins and ripe fruit flavors with a crisp acidity in these wines.

In naming our wines, we wanted to select those that would reflect the spirit of the wine as well as the attributes of Miranda. Southern Belle came to mind. In defining the word Belle we found it to be the perfect fit for this sweet wine as well as for Miranda. Simply put, it means the most beautiful. With her true southern spirit, she epitomizes southern hospitality and beauty while being a just a little bit flirty

A dry and warm winter began the 2015 growing season with budbreak coming in early March. Cool weather came during fruit set, with not a lot of sunshine. A heat spike came in late June. However, the grapes ripened evenly and flavor and development were right where we wanted them to be. Yields were a bit down from previous vintages, but the quality was extremely high. This was one of our earliest recorded harvests with one of the earliest finishes in our history!
The long growing season and Mediterranean climate of California are highly attractive growing conditions which allow the grapes to reach optimal ripeness. During fermentation we carefully extract the soft, silky tannins and rich color from the grapes. Aged on oak for close to a year which heightens the richness and complexity of the wine.
