2014 The Ojai Vineyard Santa Barbara Pinot Noir Wine 750 mL
Manufacturer: The Ojai Vineyard
Brand: The Ojai Vineyard
Since 2005 we've been experimenting with when to pick pinot noir. Although it's a bit counterintuitive, I found we were losing something if the fruit got too ripe. Yes, riper fruit produces bigger, thicker wines-but at the expense of aroma and freshness-and that's what pinot noir is all about.
Located by the Pacific Ocean, the unique topography and climate of the sun-drenched Central Coast produces world- class wines. Our Merlot grapes are cool fermented for a slow process that retains aroma and complexity. A regimen of pump-overs extracts soft tannins and color from the grapes, then grape skins are pressed before reaching dryness to preserve a lush tannin structure. Aging on American oak enhances the richness and complexity.

2009 Hedges Family Estate Single Vineyard Limited CABERNET SAUVIGNON 750 mL
Manufacturer: Hedges Family Estate
Brand: Hedges Family Estate
2009 was a fairly “normal†year early on, which led to normal set. The summer had normal heat units but about half the average number of days over 100 Fahrenheit, which meant photosynthesis was maximized, leading to earlier than usual sugar accumulation and concurrent ripening of normally separated varieties. Combine this with a hotter than normal 3rd week of September, which caused some premature shriveling, and a frost the 10th of October, and it made for a very busy first 3 weeks of September and a “crazy†last week of September and 3 weeks in October. Our vineyards and those we purchase fruit from worked diligently to harvest “on timeâ€, which maximized fruit quality, leading to another great vintage..
