2012 Dry Creek Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Dry Creek Valley 750 mL Wine
Manufacturer: Dry Creek Vineyard
Brand: Dry Creek Vineyard
From early winter through harvest, conditions could not have been more perfect. Late winter rains came at an excellent time and before the dormant vines awoke. Through spring and bud break, the weather cooperated and frost was of little or no concern. The summer growing season was outstanding with moderate temperatures that paved the way for a huge set in the vineyard. Harvest conditions were superb with rain staying away. Yields proved to be 20% over initial estimates and the 2012 vintage will go down as one of the finest in recent history.
Moniker Cabernet Sauvignon is an elegant wine showcasing three clones – 4, 337 and 191 – from Ukiah Valley’s finest southwestern exposed sites. From maceration to fermentation, we worked to preserve the wine’s tannic backbone: cold soaking the grapes for two days, pumping over the cap, and briefly leaving some of the lots on the skins for greater extraction. We chose a Languedoc yeast strain prized for delivering optimum fore-mouth volume while retaining varietally correct flavors, then blended in a touch of Petite Sirah for power and Cabernet Franc for a lacing of tobacco. French oak’s unique propensity to gather complex flavors over time harmonizes with the secondary tones this Cabernet Sauvignon will develop with age.
2014 Naked Winery "Naked" Columbia Valley Merlot 750 mL
Manufacturer: Naked Winery
Brand: Naked Winery
A warm spring and summer with no heat spikes produced an early vintage and we were blessed with no significant rain at harvest. There was little to no disease pressure and alcohol levels remained moderate allowing for flourishing intense flavors. In the end, we think this will go down as a great year for Washington wine.
